History Group

OMOKOROA HISTORY GROUP

The function of the Omokoroa History Group is to promote local history and to protect historical items which are identified by the Group.

To represent and provide guidance and assistance to groups similarly operating eg. Local Library, School, Western Bay of Plenty District Council etc.

To facilitate the exchange of information between groups of like interest in Omokoroa and to record history as it occurs.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Group are:

  1. To promote awareness and discussion of matters of historical interest and concern to the residents of the District;

  2. To represent the views of the Members and residents of the District to the appropriate authorities;

  3. To acquire and record information on historical matters that is likely to be of benefit to the Members and residents of the District;

  4. To take any actions the Society may from time to time consider beneficial to its members and the District;

  5. To encourage the establishment, development and archiving of historical items concerning the District;

  6. To achieve and maintain recognition as an Historical Group;

  7. To submit applications for funding to maintain objectives of the Society;

  8. To widen the community interest and involvement through articles in the local media- Omelette, Katikati Advertiser, with displays and through public walks and talks.

New member’s are welcome.

MEETINGS

Bimonthly, held in member’s homes.
